Don’t Knock Down My Legos

Have you ever sat down on the floor and built something magnificent with wooden blocks or even better, Legos? You worked hard. You wouldn’t want someone coming along and destroying it right? Today, I want to talk about how we can either build up our own household and relationships or knock them down.

It’s pretty obvious that men and women were created with physical differences. I have talked about a few of these differences in previous posts but did you know that a woman’s arm is kind of crooked compared to a man’s arm? This enables the woman to cradle and nurse a child more easily. Amazing! What about the behavioral characteristics? Men were created to be leaders, protectors and providers. Men should be strong, loving and self-sacrificing. Women were created to be nurturing, amenable and relational. Women should be helpers, responsive to needs, welcoming and grace giving.

When men and women are being faithful to live out our assigned characteristics, we can then rely on each other. This kind of relationship is based on complimenting each other instead of competing with each other. When we live this way, we build up our households and relationships. It benefits all involved. There is a Proverb that says “the wisest of women builds her house, but folly with her own hands tears it down”.

Is this easy? Not always. Sometimes the other person doesn’t do the right thing or maybe they never do the right thing. Does that let you “off the hook”? Good try, but no. You are still accountable to your Creator. I know that this can make you bristle. I know women that refuse to accept this. If this is you, I encourage you to remember that being biblically feminine is being obedient to God. A biblically feminine woman says “yes Lord”. Obedience to the Lord is sweet and obedience in difficult circumstances is even sweeter.
